A message from the family
Laps for Elise
We’d like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who has joined, supported and donated to Laps for Elise. Seeing the community come together in memory of Elise has meant the world to everyone involved. Thanks to everyone’s generous efforts, close to $26000 has been raised for youth mental health. The impact of the team could never have gotten to where it is without the bravery of Michael, Pauline, Max and James. In particular Michael, who has raised close to $7,000 personally. You are truly amazing and you have inspired so many of us to do more.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the City of Yarra for granting free entry to any of its three centres ( Fitzroy Pool, Collingwood Leisure Centre and Richmond Recreation Centre) to anyone taking part in the Laps for Life initiative. All you need to do is show the Customer Service Officer’s your registration and they will let you in.
We’d also like to take time to mention the Laps for Elise event being hosted at Fitzroy Pool on the 15th of March between 11am and 2pm. Whether you want to swim some laps, share some memories, or just check in with someone over a white monster, you’re more than welcome. This is for Elise, and for all of us, to take a moment to reflect, connect, and keep her spirit alive.

Laps for Elise
Swimming Laps in the Memory of Elise
We are taking part in Laps for Life, a group of friends with heavy hearts but hopeful minds, to swim in the memory of our dear friend, Elise. She was always the first to lend a hand, offering her time, attention, and love to anyone in need. Whether it was taking part in marches, or simply lending an ear, Elise’s giving spirit was unmatched. She had an infectious personality, one that made everyone feel seen, valued, and understood. It’s because of her that we’ve decided to take on this initiative, swimming laps for life, a small gesture to honor the big impact she had on all of us. Each stroke we take is a reminder of how she touched our lives, and how we can carry forward her legacy by being a little more like her. By pushing ourselves to do something for a cause, no matter how small it may seem, we hope to channel the same selflessness and warmth she always showed. We’re swimming for a cause, but we’re also swimming to remember her, the way she lived her life, and the way she made all of us want to be better, kinder people. Elise’s absence leaves a hole, but through this act, we’re finding ways to fill it with purpose and love, just as she always did.

Hi Michael and family. I was si incredibly sorry and heartbroken to hear of the loss of Elise. Last year we often did laps together at Fitzroy Pool and would often accidentally meet up at the same time ! I remember her being so bright and positive and I always loved seeing her. I am thinking of you all and think of Elise very often.
